TESSA LEWIS
COMMITS TO D3 SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY
Congratulations to Seattle Starz ’19 goalie, Tessa Lewis, on her recent commitment to Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. The Pirates will be under the guidance of veteran NCAA coach Brice Queener for the 2019 season.
“I have been playing Starz for 6 years now and I wouldn’t be the lacrosse player or person I am without the program. Getting to travel and play other high caliber lacrosse teams has really pushed me to always keep improving my game,” said Lewis. “The coaches as well as my teammates have made a huge impact on my life and I couldn’t imagine growing up playing for any other program. I want to give a huge thanks to my Coach Lyndsey Gillis for always having faith in my abilities, encouraging me to push myself to the next level and teaching me how to be smart, patient and focused in cage. I also wanted to thank Ruth Bonner; her coaching gave me confidence as a player and I will forever be thankful for that. I got the opportunity to go to a Queener goalie camp where I got to meet Coach Queener. His encouragement for me as a player and his coaching style are what really drew me to the program at Southwestern.”
“Tessa has been an integral part of our defensive unit, quarterbacking our D for the last few years,” remarked Girls Director, Lyndsey Gillis. “In addition to showing an incredible amount of growth during her tenure at Starz, she’s become a true force in and outside of the cage. Her quick hands and decision making will serve her well under Coach Queener’s tutelage. There’s no doubt in my mind that Tessa will bring with her maturity, a positive attitude, and wonderful smile with her to Southwestern. The team and I will miss her lots! I’m incredibly proud of her accomplishments and look forward to watching her compete at the next level.”
