BRYNNA NIXON COMMITS TO MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY

Congratulations to Starz ’21 goalie, Brynna Nixon, on her commitment to NCAA D1 Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Brynna has been a standout player on her high school team at Sumner as a 2x All-Conference player, 2x Team Washington selection, the Defensive MVP and voted ‘Most Inspirational’ by her teammates. She was recently recognized as Student of the year and was the first female quarterback to throw a touchdown pass in Washington state.

“Playing with Starz has been the best experience of my life; my favorite lacrosse memories are playing on this team,” explained Nixon. “I want to give a huge thank you to all the coaches at Starz who have taught me so much, especially Coach Lyndsey, Coach Ruth, Coach Saff, and Coach Stevie. I loved playing alongside the most talented and competitive girls in the state! They pushed me to be the best I could be, and I could not be more grateful.  I also want to thank  Coach Hazzard and Coach Curtis from Sumner-Bonney Lake High School who got me into lacrosse and continue to grow the sport. Most importantly, I could not have done this without the support of my parents. They have always been there, giving me the best opportunities. Lastly, I’m so grateful to continue my athletic and academic career at Marquette University!”

“Brynna has been a huge difference maker for our 2021s, one of our most competitive teams to date, over the past four years,” said Lyndsey Gillis. “She has been our brick wall, coming up with countless saves, especially in tight contests. In addition to quarterbacking our defense inside of the goal circle, Brynna reads the play outside of her cage so well that she is like having an 8th defender. Her ability to move the ball as a ‘field player’ or hit the long clear is always performed with such ease and typically comes off of an interception, a statistic she lead the 21s in. Off the field I will miss her unsurpassed kindness, love for her teammates and positive outlook. Coach Black scooped up a great one!”
